India (Shar)made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Virender Sehwag and Ravindra Jadeja made way for Rohit and Twenty20 International debutant Pragyan Ojha, the player of the match.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s
skipper, chose to bat.
India’s openers put on 50 off 5.2 overs (33 balls).
Bangladesh had conceded an extra at that point. While Gautam Gambhir’s
contribution to the partnership was 21, Rohit’s contribution to it was 29.
Rohit, whose 23-ball innings included three boundaries
and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 36. Forty-four balls into the match,
Shakib Al Hasan broke the 59-run partnership.
India scored 100 off 12.4 overs (77 balls). Bangladesh
had conceded an extra at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 40 balls. While
Gambhir’s contribution to the partnership was 26, Dhoni’s contribution to it
was 25. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.
Dhoni, whose 21-ball innings included a six,
eventually scored 26. Forty-three balls after Rohit’s dismissal, Naeem Islam
broke the 53-run partnership.
Gambhir’s half-century – which included four
boundaries – came off 44 balls. He eventually scored 46 balls, failing to add
to the aforementioned score. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Shakib. Islam
broke the 28-run stand.
India scored 150 off 17.2 overs (107 balls).
Bangladesh had conceded three extras at that point.
Yuvraj Singh, whose 18-ball (Hossa)innings included
three boundaries and four sixes, scored 41. Seven (Iq)balls after Gambhir’s
dismissal, he was caught by Tamim. Shahadat broke the 17-run stand.
Suresh Raina, whose eight-ball (Hossa)innings included
a boundary, scored 10. Eight balls later, T20 International debutant Rubel
broke the 12-run stand.
Yusuf Pathan, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was
unbeaten, as was Irfan Pathan, who scored 11. His three-ball innings included a
boundary and a six.
Bangladesh eventually conceded five extras. India
scored 180 for the loss of five extras off 20 overs. Mahmudullah, who bowled a
couple of overs, conceded 15. He was wicketless, as was Mashrafe Mortaza, who
bowled four overs, conceding 29.
Shahadat, who bowled three overs, conceded 31. He
picked up a wicket, as did Rubel and Shakib, who bowled four overs apiece.
While the former conceded 49, the latter conceded 24. Islam, who bowled three
overs, conceded 32. He picked up a couple of scalps apiece.
Iqbal, whose 10-ball innings included three
boundaries, scored 15. Fifteen balls into the chase, he was stumped by Dhoni.
Yusuf broke the 24-run stand.

hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.
Mohammad Ashraful, Bangladesh’s skipper, scored 11.
His nine-ball innings included a boundary. Nineteen balls later, he was caught
by Gambhir. Ishant Sharma broke the 31-run stand.
Shakib, who faced 10 balls, scored eight. Fifteen
balls later, he was caught by Dhoni. Ojha broke the 19-run stand.
Junaid Siddique, whose 22-ball innings included a
couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 41. Four balls later, he was
caught by Harbhajan Singh. Ojha broke the three-run stand.
Mahmudullah, who faced 13 balls, scored eight.
Twenty-three balls later, he was caught by Yuvraj. Ojha broke the 18-run stand.

Mortaza, whose eight-ball innings included a six,

Mushfiqur Rahim, whose run-a-ball innings included a
boundary, scored 11. He was unbeaten.
Raqibul Hasan, whose 20-ball innings included a
boundary, scored 16. Ten balls later, he was caught by Ojha. Zaheer Khan broke
the 10-run stand.

Islam, whose 17-ball innings included three sixes,
scored 28. Twenty-one balls later, he was caught by Yuvraj. Ishant broke the

Shahadat, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
Bangladesh, who scored 155 for the loss of eight
extras off 20 overs, lost by 25 runs. Irfan, who bowled a couple of overs,
conceded 20. He was wicketless, as was Harbhajan, who bowled four overs,
conceding 25.
Khan and Yusuf bowled three overs, conceding 26, each,
picking up a wicket apiece. Ishant, who bowled four overs, conceded 34. He
picked up a couple of scalps. Ojha, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He
picked up four scalps.
