SA knock Dhoni-led India out

India made no changes to their playing eleven.

South Africa made four changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Justin Kemp, Shaun Pollock, Vernon Philander and Johan van der Wath made way for Jean-Paul Duminy, Johan Botha, Roelof van der Merwe and Wayne Parnell.

On winning the toss, Graeme Smith, South Africa’s skipper, chose to bat.

Herschelle Gibbs, whose three-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Ten balls into the match, Rudra Pratap Singh broke the 13-run stand.

South Africa scored 50 off 6.3 overs (40 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point.

Smith, whose run-a-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 26. Forty-one balls later, he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja. Harbhajan Singh broke the 46-run stand.

A B de Villiers was the player of the match. His half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries – came off 41 balls.

Duminy, who faced 15 balls, scored 10. Thirty-seven balls after Smith’s dismissal, he was stumped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper. Suresh Raina broke the 39-run stand.

South Africa scored 100 off 16.1 overs (98 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point.

De Villiers, whose 51-ball innings included seven boundaries, eventually scored 63. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja, who broke the 12-run stand.

Mark Boucher, whose 15-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. A dozen balls later, he was caught by Rudra Pratap. Zaheer Khan broke the 10-run stand.

Albie Morkel, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. He was unbeaten, as was Botha, who faced a couple of balls, scoring four. His runs came by way of a boundary.

India eventually conceded three extras. South Africa scored 130 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs. Ishant Sharma, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded half-a-dozen. Rohit Sharma, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 15. Yuvraj Singh, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 29.

Raina, who bowled an over, conceded half-a-dozen. He picked up a wicket. Rudra Pratap, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 21. He picked up a wicket.

Khan and Jadeja bowled three overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 26, the latter conceded nine. Harbhajan, who bowled four overs, conceded 20. He picked up a wicket.

Gautam Gambhir, whose 19-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 21. Thirty-eight balls into the chase, he was caught by Duminy. Botha broke the 48-run stand.

India scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point.

Raina, who faced eight balls, scored just three. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Morne Morkel. Needless to say, Botha was in seventh heaven.

Rohit, whose 28-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 29. Five balls later, he was caught by Dale Steyn. Duminy broke the one-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 11. Dhoni, who faced a dozen balls, scored just five. Eighteen balls later, Boucher and Morne ran him out.

Yusuf Pathan, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Four balls later, he was caught by de Villiers. Van der Merwe broke the two-run stand.

India scored 100 off 17 overs (105 balls). South Africa had conceded eight extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Harbhajan, whose 15-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 14. Twenty-three balls later, he was caught by de Villiers. Botha broke the 31-run stand.

Yuvraj, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 25. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Boucher. Steyn broke the run-a-ball stand.

Although he was unbeaten, Jadeja, who faced half-a-dozen balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Khan, who faced three balls, scored four. His runs came by way of a boundary. Three balls later, he was caught by de Villiers. Steyn broke the four-run stand.

Rudra Pratap, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. He was unbeaten.

India, who scored 118 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by a dozen runs.

Albie, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded a dozen. Wayne Parnell bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 22. Morne bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 23.

Duminy bowled an over, conceding three. He picked up a wicket, as did van der Merwe, who bowled four overs, conceding 13. Steyn bowled three wickets, conceding 25. He picked up a couple of wickets. Botha bowled four overs, conceding 16. He picked up three scalps.

England avenge loss; India D(hon)isappointed

India made a couple of changes to theiR Playing eleven – Irfan Pathan and Pragyan Ojha made way for Ravindra Jadeja and Singh.

England made four changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Darren Maddy, Vikram Solanki, Andrew Flintoff and Chris Tremlett made way for Ravi Bopara, James Foster, Graeme Swann and Ryan Sidebottom, the player of the match.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, inserted the hosts.

Luke Wright had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a run. Ten balls into the match, he was caught by Yusuf Pathan. Rudra Pratap broke the three-run stand.

England scored 50 off seven overs (43 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 35 balls. While Ravi Bopara’s contribution to the partnership was 28, Kevin Pietersen’s contribution to it was 35. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Bopara, whose run-a-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 37. Fifty-five balls later, Jadeja broke the 71-run partnership.

Pietersen, whose 27-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 46. Thirteen balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Pietersen, who broke the 18-run stand.

England scored 100 off 15 overs (92 balls). India had conceded three extras at that point.

Dimitri Mascarenhas, whose 27-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 25. He was unbeaten.

Owais Shah, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen. Twenty-six balls after Pietersen’s dismissal, he was caught by Jadeja. Harbhajan Singh broke the 30-run stand.

Although his five-ball innings included a boundary, Paul Collingwood had no reason to be in seventh heaven – seven balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Zaheer Khan, who broke the 16-run stand.

Foster, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Harbhajan, who broke the seven-run stand.

The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Swann, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Harbhajan.

Stuart Broad, who faced a ball, scored three. He was unbeaten.

Dhoni, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 30. He was unbeaten, as was Yusuf, who scored 33. His 17-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes.

England eventually conceded eight extras. India, who scored 150 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs (124 balls), lost by three runs.

Pietersen bowled a wicketless over, conceding nine. Wright bowled two wicketless overs, conceding 16. James Anderson and Broad bowled four wicketless overs. While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 21.

Mascarenhas bowled an over, conceding nine. He picked up a wicket. Sidebottom and Swann bowled four overs each, picking up two scalps apiece. While the former conceded 31, the latter conceded 28.

Rohit Sharma, whose three-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Eight balls into the match, he was caught by Lendl Simmons. Fidel Edwards broke the 12-run stand.

Suresh Raina, who faced eight balls, scored five. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Denesh Ramdin. Edwards broke the run-a-ball innings.

Gautam Gambhir, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 14. Three balls later, he was caught by Simmons. Dwayne, the player of the match, Br(av)oke the two-run stand.

India scored 50 off 8.4 overs (54 balls). The West Indies had conceded three extras at that point.

Dhoni, who faced 23 balls, scored 11. Forty-seven balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, he was caught by Andre Fletcher. Bravo broke the 37-run stand.

William Porterfield, Ireland’s skipper, faced eight balls, scoring five. Seven balls later, he was caught by Yusuf Pathan. Khan broke the five-run stand.

Andre Botha, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Five balls later, he was caught by Yusuf. Pathan broke the eight-run stand.

Kevin O’Brien, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Thirteen balls later, Pragyan Ojha broke the 11-run stand.

Gary Wilson, whose 23-ball innings included a boundary, scored 19. Twenty-one balls later, Harbhajan Singh broke the 20-run stand.

M S-led India beat Bangladesh

India (Shar)made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Virender Sehwag and Ravindra Jadeja made way for Rohit and Twenty20 International debutant Pragyan Ojha, the player of the match.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, chose to bat.

India’s openers put on 50 off 5.2 overs (33 balls). Bangladesh had conceded an extra at that point. While Gautam Gambhir’s contribution to the partnership was 21, Rohit’s contribution to it was 29.

Rohit, whose 23-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 36. Forty-four balls into the match, Shakib Al Hasan broke the 59-run partnership.

India scored 100 off 12.4 overs (77 balls). Bangladesh had conceded an extra at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 40 balls. While Gambhir’s contribution to the partnership was 26, Dhoni’s contribution to it was 25. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.
