England disappointed; SKY-led India win

India made three changes to their playing (Jur)eleven – Washington Sundar, Dhruv, and Mohammed Shami made way for Shivam Dube and the Singhs (Rinku and Arshdeep).

England made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Jamie Smith and Mark Wood made way for Jacob Bethell and Saqib Mahmood.

On winning the toss, Jos Buttler, England’s skipper, elected to field.

The first Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 47, and lost three wickets.

Sanju Samson, who faced three balls, scored a run. (Car)Seven balls into the match, he was caught by Brydon. Mahmood broke the 12-run stand.

The second-wicket pair did not get off the (Var)mark. Tilak, who faced a ball, did not open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Jofra Archer off the bowling of Mahmood.

The third-wicket pair did not open his account. Yadav, India’s skipper, faced four balls, failing to get off the (Suryaku)mark. Four balls later, he was caught by Carse off the bowling of Mahmood.

Abhishek, whose 19-ball innings included four fours and a six, scored 29. Thirty-two balls later, he was caught by Bethell. Adil Rashid broke the 45-run stand.

India scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). England had conceded two extras at that point.

Fifty-eight balls (9.4 overs) (Nit)into the match, England sought a bowling review. They challenged the decision for a wicket. Rinku was the batter. It was struck down by umpire Menon.

Ten overs into the match, the drinks break was taken. India had scored 72 for four at that point. While Rinku had scored 29, Dube had scored eight.

Rinku eventually scored 30 off 26 balls, which included four fours and a six. Twenty balls after Abhishek’s dismissal, he was caught by Rashid. Carse broke the 22-run stand.

India scored 100 off 13.2 overs (81 balls). England had conceded six extras at that point.

The sixth-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While Dube’s contribution to the partnership was 20, Hardik’s contribution to it was 28. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

India scored 150 off 17 overs (104 balls). England had conceded 10 extras at that point. That was the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Hardik’s half-century – which included four fours and as many sixes – came off 27 balls.

He eventually scored 53 off 30 balls, which included the aforementioned numbers of fours and sixes. Forty-four balls after Rinku’s dismissal, he was caught by Buttler. Jamie Overton broke the 87-run partnership.

Dube’s half-century – which included seven fours and two sixes – came off 31 balls.

Axar, who faced four balls, scored five. Eight balls after Hardik’s dismissal, he was caught by Bethell. Overton broke the 14-run stand.

The eighth-wicket pair did not get off the mark. Arshdeep, who faced a ball, did not open his account. The next ball, Phil Salt and Overton ran him out.

The ninth-wicket pair put on a run. Dube, the player of the match, eventually scored 53 off 34 balls, which included the aforementioned number of boundaries and sixes. Three balls later, Buttler ran him out.

Ravi Bishnoi, who did not face a ball, was unbeaten.

India scored 181 for nine off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Archer, who conceded 37, was wicketless.

Carse and Rashid picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 39, the latter conceded 35.

Overton, who conceded 32, picked up a couple of wickets.

Mahmood’s spell included a maiden. He conceded 35, picking up three scalps.

England’s openers put on 50 off 4.5 overs (29 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point. While Salt’s contribution to the partnership was 15, Ben Duckett’s contribution to it was 37.

Duckett, whose 19-ball innings included seven fours and a six, eventually scored 39. Six overs into the chase, he was caught by Suryakumar. Bishnoi broke the 62-run partnership.

Salt, whose 21-ball innings included four fours, eventually scored 23. Five balls later, Axar broke the three-run stand.

Buttler, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Four balls later, he was caught by the substitute, Harshit Rana. Bishnoi broke the two-run stand.

Nine overs into the chase, Dube was replaced by the concussion substitute, Rana (who was making his Twenty20 International debut).

Ten overs into the chase, the drinks break was taken. India had scored 86 for three at that point. While Harry Brook had scored 12, Liam Livingstone had scored eight.

Livingstone, who faced 13 balls, eventually scored nine. Twenty-three balls after Buttler’s dismissal, he was caught by Samson. Rana broke the 28-run stand.

England scored 100 off 12.1 overs (73 balls). India had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Brook’s half-century – which included five fours and two sixes – came off 25 balls.

He eventually scored 51 off 26 balls. Nineteen balls after Livingstone’s dismissal, he was caught by Arshdeep. Chakravarthy broke the 34-(Va)run partnership.

Carse, who faced two balls, did not get off the mark. Two balls later, he was caught by Rinku. Chakravarthy broke the four-run stand.

Bethell, who faced nine balls, scored six. Six balls later, he was caught by Suryakumar. Rana broke the four-run stand.

Archer, who faced two balls, did not get off the mark. Six balls later, Bishnoi broke the nine-run stand.

Overton, whose 15-ball innings included a four and a six, scored 19. Thirteen balls later, Rana broke the 17-run stand.

Rashid, whose six-ball innings included a six, was unbea‘ten’.

Mahmood, who faced two balls, scored a run. Four balls after Overton’s dismissal, he was caught by Axar. Arshdeep broke the three-run stand.

India eventually conceded six extras. England, who were dismissed for 166 off 19.4 overs, lost by 15 runs.

Hardik bowled a wicketless over, conceding 11.

Axar conceded three overs, conceding 26. He picked up a wicket, as did Arshdeep, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 35.

Chakravarthy bowled four overs, conceding 28. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Rana and Bishnoi bowled four overs each, picking up three scalps apiece. While the former conceded 33, the latter conceded 28.

Series Level; Hardik-led India lose

India made a couple of changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Sanju Samson and Harshal made way for Twenty20 International debutant (and local lad) Rahul Tripathi and Arshdeep Singh.

Sri Lanka made no changes to the eleven that last played the Indians.

On winning the toss, Hardik Pandya, India’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of Sri Lanka’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55, without the loss of a wicket.

Sri Lanka’s openers put on 50 off 5.1 overs (35 balls). India had conceded five extras at that point. While Pathum Nissanka’s contribution to the partnership was 10, Kusal Mendis’ contribution to it was 35.

Mendis’ half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes – came off 27 balls.

Fifty-four balls (8.2 overs) into the match, India sought a bowling review. Mendis, the batsman, eventually scored 52 off 31 balls. It was upheld by umpire J Madanagopal. He was trapped leg before wicket by Yuzvendra Chahal, who broke the 80-run partnership.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Five balls later, Umran Malik broke the three-run stand.

It was at that point that the drinks break was taken. Sri Lanka had scored 83 for the loss of a couple of wickets at that point. Nissanka was batting on 24.

Nissanka, whose 35-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually scored 33. Fourteen balls after Rajapaksa’s dismissal, he was caught by Tripathi. Axar Patel broke the 13-run stand.

Sri Lanka scored 100 off 12.2 overs (78 balls). India had conceded five extras at that point.

Dhananjaya de Silva, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored three. Thirteen balls after Nissanka’s dismissal, he was caught by Deepak Hooda. Axar broke the 14-run stand.

Asalanka, whose 19-ball innings included four sixes, scored (Chari)thirty-seven. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Shubman Gill. Malik broke the 28-run stand.

The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Wanindu Hasaranga, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, e was dismissed by Malik.  

Sri Lanka scored 150 off 17.1 overs (107 balls). India had conceded nine extras at that point.

The seventh-wicket pair put on 50 off 22 balls. While the contribution of Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka’s skipper, to the partnership was 39, Chamika Karunaratne was unbea‘ten’. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was five.

Shanaka’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and five sixes – came off 20 balls.

He eventually scored 56 off 22 balls, which included a couple of boundaries and half-a-dozen sixes. He was unbeaten.

Karunaratne eventually scored 11 balls. His unbea‘ten’ innings included a boundary.

India eventually conceded a dozen extras. Sri Lanka scored 206 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Arshdeep and Hardik bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 37, the latter conceded 13.

Shivam Mavi, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 53.

Chahal, who bowled four overs, conceded 30. He picked up a wicket.

Axar, who bowled four overs, conceded 24. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Malik, who bowled four overs, conceded 48. He picked up three scalps.

Hardik, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored a dozen. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Mendis. Karunaratne broke the 13-run stand.

India scored 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded 10 extras at that point.

Hooda, who faced a dozen balls, scored nine. Twenty-seven balls after Hardik’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhananjaya. Hasaranga broke the 23-run stand.

It was at that point that the drinks break was taken. India had scored 57 for the loss of five wickets at that point. Suryakumar Yadav was batting on 14.

India scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded 11 extras at that point.

The sixth-wicket pair put on 50 off 25 balls. While Suryakumar’s contribution to the partnership was 15, Axar’s contribution to it was 37. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Axar’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and half-a-dozen sixes – came off 20 balls.

Suryakumar’s half-century – which included three boundaries and as many sixes – came off 33 balls.

He eventually scored 51 off 36 balls. Forty balls after Hooda’s dismissal, he was caught by Hasaranga. Madushanka broke the 91-run partnership.

India scored 150 off 16.3 overs (99 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded a dozen extras at that point.

Axar, whose 31-ball innings included three boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 65. Twenty-two balls after Suryakumar’s dismissal, he was caught by Karunaratne. Shanaka broke the 41-run stand.

Mavi, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, scored 26. Three balls later, he was caught by Theekshana. Shanaka broke the one-run stand.

Malik, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

Sri Lanka eventually conceded 14 extras. India, who scored 190 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 16 runs.

Theekshana bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 33.

Hasaranga bowled three overs, conceding 41. He picked up a wicket, as did Karunaratne, who bowled four overs, conceding 41.

Shanaka, who bowled an over, conceded four. He picked up two scalps, as did Madushanka and Rajitha, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 45, the latter conceded 22.

The three-match series was levelled 1-1.

India trounce SL, K(oh)linch series

India made three changes to their playing eleven – Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube and Kuldeep Yadav made way for Sanju Samson, Manish Pandey and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Sri Lanka made a couple of changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Isuru Udana made way for Angelo Mathews and Lakshan Sandakan.

On winning the toss, Lasith Malinga, Sri Lanka’s skipper, inserted the hosts.

The Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and sixth over. They scored 63, without the loss of a wicket.

India’s openers put on 50 off five overs (30 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded three extras at that point. While Lokesh Rahul’s contribution to the partnership was 28, Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to it was 21.

Dhawan’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and a six – came off 34 balls. He eventually scored 52 off 36 balls. Sixty-five balls into the match, he was caught by Danushka Gunathilaka. Sandakan broke the 97-run partnership.

India scored 100 off 11 overs (66 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Shreyas Iyer, who faced a couple of balls, scored four. His runs came by way of a boundary. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Sandakan, who broke the four-run stand.

India scored 150 off 16.2 overs (98 balls).

The fifth-wicket pair put on 42. Virat Kohli, India’s skipper, scored 26. His 17-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six. Twenty-eight balls later, Gunathilaka and Perera ran him out.

The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Washington Sundar, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Sandakan off the bowling of Lahiru Kumara.

Shardul Thakur, the player of the match, scored 22. His eight-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes. He was unbeaten.

India scored 200 off 20 overs (120 balls). They eventually scored 201 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets. Sri Lanka had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point. That was, in fact, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Mathews, whose 20-ball innings included a boundary and three sixes, eventually conceded 31. Thirty-seven balls after Perera’s dismissal, he was caught by Pandey. Sundar broke the 68-run partnership.

Kumara, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

Sri Lanka, who were dismissed for 123 off 15.5 overs, lost by 78 runs. Chahal, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 33.

Bumrah bowled a couple of overs, including a maiden. He conceded five, picking up a wicket. Thakur, who bowled three overs, conceded 19. He picked up a couple of scalps, as did Sundar, who bowled four overs, conceding 37. Saini, who bowled 3.5 overs, conceded 28. He picked up three scalps.

India won the three-match series 2-0.

Sri Lanka triumph; India D(hon)isappointed

India made just one change to their playing eleven – Virat Kohli made way for Ajinkya Rahane.

Sri Lanka made nine Cha(mara)nges to the eleven that (Mahe)last played the Indians – Kusal Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekara, Rangana Herath and Lasith Malinga made way for a couple of Twenty20 International debutants (Niroshan Dickwella and Kasun Rajitha, the player of the match), Danushka Gunathilaka, Dinesh Chandimal (who was leading the team, and inserted the hosts on winning the toss), Kapugedera, Milinda Siriwardana, Dasun Shanaka, Seekkuge Prasanna, and Dushmantha Chameera.

India’s openers didn’t get off the (Shar)mark. Rohit, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls into the match, he was caught by Chameera off the bowling of Rajitha.

Rahane, who faced four balls, scored as many. His runs came by way of a boundary. Four balls later, he was caught by Chandimal. Rajitha broke the four-run stand.

Shikhar Dhawan, whose 13-ball innings included a six, scored nine. Four overs later, he was caught by Gunathilaka. Rajitha broke the 27-run stand.

Gunathilaka dropped a couple of catches, and Suresh Raina was the beneficiary on both occasions. The first time, he hadn’t opened his account, and the second time, he was batting on 18. Sri Lanka, who scored 105 for the loss of five wickets off 18 overs, won by five wickets with a couple of overs to spare.

Jadeja and Pandya bowled three wicketless overs each, conceding 18 apiece. Bumrah bowled four wicketless overs, including a maiden. He conceded 19.

Raina, who bowled two overs, conceded 13. He picked up a wicket. Nehra and Ashwin bowled three overs each, picking up two apiece. While the former conceded 21, the latter conceded 13.

Sri Lanka led the three-match series 1-0.

M S-led India beat England

India (Shar)made five Cha(wla)nges to their playing eleven – Virender Sehwag, Rohit, Irfan Pathan, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Zaheer Khan made way for Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Piyush, Ashok Dinda and Twenty20 International debutant Parvinder Awana.

England made five changes to the (Pat)eleven that last played the Indians – Craig Kieswetter, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann and Stuart Finn made way for Michael Lumb, Samit, a couple of T20 International debutants (James Tredwell and Stuart Meaker) and Danny Briggs.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, inserted the visitors.

The Powerplay of England’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 51, and lost a wicket.

Lumb, who faced 10 balls, scored a run. Nineteen balls into the match, he was trapped leg before wicket by Ravichandran Ashwin, who broke the 21-run stand.

England scored 50 off 5.5 overs (35 balls). India had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While Alex Hales’ contribution to the partnership was 29, Luke Wright’s contribution to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was one.
