The seventh-wicket pair put on a run. Regan West, who faced a ball, scored a run. The next ball, Suresh Raina and Dhoni ran him out.

India eventually scored eight extras. Ireland scored 112 for the loss of eight wickets off 18 overs. Yuvraj, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded four. Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 18.

Gambhir, whose 31-ball (Rank)innings included three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 37. Sixty-five balls into the chase, he was caught by Boyd. West broke the 77-run partnership.

India scored 100 off 13.2 overs (81 balls). Ireland had conceded five extras at that point.

Rohit’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 44 balls. He faced 45 balls, eventually scoring 52. He was unbeaten, as was Yuvraj, who faced four balls, scoring three.

The number of extras they eventually conceded gave Ireland no reason to be in seventh heaven.

India, who scored 113 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 15.3 overs, won by eight wickets with 15 balls to spare.

O’Brien and Cusack bowled two wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 17, the latter conceded 13. Rankin bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 28. McCallan bowled 3.3 overs, conceding 28. He picked up a wicket, as did West, who bowled four overs, conceding 23.
